Eric N. Ortiz, Esq.
The New Mexico law office of Eric N. Ortiz Esq. is headed by Eric N. Ortiz. He is a lifetime resident of New Mexico and is proud to serve his fellow New Mexicans in the areas of complex commercial litigation, bankruptcy litigation, general civil litigation (including personal injury) and family law. Eric holds a B.A. from the University of New Mexico and a J.D. from UNM School of Law (which institution conferred on Eric the Fred Hart Award for Excellence in Commercial Law). He is an active member of the New Mexico State Bar, the US Federal Bar and the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association.
Eric worked for several law firms before starting his own firm in 2012. Before attending law school, Eric worked as a law clerk for Rusch D. Gathings, a successful criminal and personal injury attorney. Through law school, Eric obtained significant experience in the arenas of commercial litigation, probate law and bankruptcy as a clerk for Jennie Behles. When he was admitted to the bar, Eric became an associate at the Behles law firm. He then went on to become a junior partner and managing attorney at Affordable Law P.C. There he honed his skills in complex commercial litigation and bankruptcy, while developing an interest in personal injury and family law.
In the Ortiz Law Firm, Eric is able to continue to pursue his interest in diverse aspects of the law and use his considerable expertise and energy to help his clients settle their claims quickly and successfully.
Jean Y. Kao, has a Juris Doctor from Thomas Cooley School of Law and Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property from Franklin Pierce. She is a licensed New Mexico attorney admitted to the state and federal bar, she is fluent in Mandarin, and has excellent research and organizational skills. Jean Kao is an Albuquerque based Chinese attorney. Jean has the ability to translate for and cater to our New Mexican Chinese clients for all of their legal needs. At Eric Ortiz Law she specializes in foreclosure defense and personal injury cases.
She focuses in negotiating loan modifications for our foreclosure clients and creates the maximum value for injured clients. Her work is rigorous against our opponents and compassionate toward our clients
Joseph Gonzales is a New Mexico attorney with extensive writing and litigation skill and experience. At Eric Ortiz Law, he is focused on stopping foreclosures, litigating commercial disputes, and utilizing his writing expertise to present our client’s cases in the most favorable to the judge and jury.
Mr. Gonzales has a B.A. from the University of New Mexico in Multi Media Arts, where he graduated with honors. He went on to obtain a Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico. During law school, Mr. Gonzales served as an editor of the Natural Resources Journal and was the vice-present of the Student Health Law Association.
Prior to joining Eric Ortiz Law as an associate, Joseph Gonzales has developed extensive bench and jury trial experience, having served as an Assistant District Attorney for the State of New Mexico for two years.
